I've noticed this since I got a new motherboard, memory and CPU a few weeks ago - same graphics card as I've had for years. So, I have to imagine it has something to do with my rig/drivers, although all drivers (that I can think of) are up to date.

I've noticed it in Co-op and HVV. (haven't really been playing other modes)

When I say it happens often, this means it happens about twice (several seconds apart) in almost every match.

I've tried numerous changes:

- various refresh rates - 60-144 Hz

- overclock video card, don't overclock card

- various resolutions - 1920x1080, 2560x1440

- HDR on and off

- rolled back NVIDIA driver to prior release

In-game graphics automatically set to ultra - card definitely had no problem with this in the past

DX12 is off.

Video sync is off.

full-screen

Microsoft in-game is off.

Origin in-game is on.

CPU is not overclocked.

Max CPU temp: 71 C - well within range

Max GPU temp: 83 C - well within range

DXDIAG attached.

LG 27GL83A-B Monitor is set at 144Hz and G-sync is on.

Any ideas?

  • A while back I traced this issue to having HDR turned on. If I turned off HDR, the game performed fine.

Somewhere along the way this got fixed. Could have been a Windows update or a game update - don't know. Nonetheless, I don't have the issue anymore, so closing this one out.

  • Fixed it.

I had to roll my NVIDIA drivers back two prior releases from 452.06 to 451.48.

I hope the issue is not in the next NVIDIA driver release.

    Well...

Unfortunately, the "fix" only lasted for a bit. The issue is back. I tried the latest NVIDIA driver (456.38) - same issue.

Is no one else having this issue?

I don't remember when I last updated my Nvidia driver. The reason was that once an update messed up something pretty badly here, I don't really remember what. Since then I started updating only when I face issues.

Better to update to solve an issue, then to update and end up creating an issue.

  • No one else is experiencing this on PC with their NVIDIA card?

Although I doubt its at fault, I thought I would mention that I'm running the 2004 version of Windows 10.

BTW - I also tried turning off G-sync. No joy.

@DarthFDG Yeah I'm not getting the issue not seen any reports out of yours on this that are new.

You tried another HDMI/Display port cable?

    Thanks for the idea, @EA_Atic

I switched to a different DP port on my video card and so far no black screens. Bad news is this means my card is starting to go bad. I guess its time to start thinking about an RTX 3080. 🙂

    @DarthFDG No problems. 🙂

Suxs to hear that it might be the card. :/ But the 3080 looks very tasty. Something my self thinking of buying.
