Camera issues in BF2

While in game the camera keeps jarring up/down/left/right. It doesn't happen all the time. However, when it does the game is virtually unplayable. One day the camera angle would go straight up or straight down. Sometimes it's left and right. Seem to happen when I'm using the joystick on my controller for camera movement. On other games the controller works perfectly fine. The movement of the camera actually reminds me of aimbot where when there's a player nearby the camera and player swiftly bolts to that position. I don't have aimbot though lol.

Yes, disconnect while playing the game.

Also, make sure you are connecting controller directly to PC, not thru a KVM or docking station/port replicator.

  • Some thoughts (without knowing what platform you're on):

    • Make sure you don't have a controller AND a mouse/keyboard connected while playing the game.
    • Make sure the controller batteries are fresh - assuming wireless controller, obviously.
    • Try a different controller.
  • I'm on PC. I've tried another controller and the issue persists. You are suggesting that when I play BF2 I need to remove mouse and keyboard entirely? It's a wired controller and have used it for more than a year on this game. This issue just recently started happening within the past 2 months. I've played BF2 since launch in 2017.

  • It started doing the up/down b.s. again today. Right after it started I unplugged the mouse and for the next 4 games I had no issues. I do not understand why this all of a sudden started happening 2 months ago. Prior to that, I never had any single issue when using a controller with the mouse plugged in. This seems to be a game issue as nothing on my setup has changed for quite some time.

No updates to the game for years now, so something on your PC changed, which is very common.
