Can I play SW battlefront online with someone without an xbox live subscription?

I and my son both have EA accounts.  He has an Xbox live ultimate subscription. I don't have any xbox live - gold or ult. subscription.  We'd like to play remotely.   Can I play SW battlefront online with him without an xbox live gold subscription?

    While I'm not a big XBOX guy, I'm pretty sure you both need XBOX live to play together.
