((Just thinking more about the various purposes and functions of Mandalorian armor . . . Will explain - ))
I was watching some Star Wars; Resistance Season2. A First Order member of a higher ranking position was helmetless, they mentioned to a lower ranking person (who was also helmetless), to put their helmet back on. The high-rank said that the lower ranking helmetless person had not yet earned the right to be seen.
Only, people such as CPT Phasma, and Pyre, (as far as I'm aware so far) haven't removed their helmets - but are of higher ranking positions.
This got me thinking in terms of how (some) Mandalorian display similar behaviors regarding their outward apparel.
So if persons *can* remove their helmets - after a certain point in the Empire/First Order/Clone Army but *chose not to*, then that could mean that it's a test of Conditioning?
Those who remain wearing their helmets (long after being permitted to remove the helms) are examples of the most effectively brainwashed subjects?
I'm starting to question how much of the Empire is/was Palpatine mimicking Mandalorians. ((Not only using Jango and the armor design somewhat ... but also Mimicking what (some) Mandalorian values could have been.)) To divert attention away from the Sith. It would seem that Jedi Sith (And Mandalorians) were in a conflict spanning a long amount of time... Some Jedi were possibly time travelers, so it seem reasonable to assume there might have been a specific branch of Mandos who learned how to as well, in order to hunt those particular enemies. (Though I imagine they would have safely guarded this secret and only left such a hunting tool for the social elite/ most trustworthy, skilled, etc.)
At one point in time, I think I recall someone had asked if the symbols on Mando armor (painted arrows?) had any meaning, but at that time they were said not to have any meaning. I wonder if it could be the arrow symbols (e.g on the hands of our Mando) mean 'Play'. Maybe Mandalorians can't use time travel to the extent some Jedi/Sith can, but maybe some select few have learned how to Pause and Play. (I've been thinking a lot about the '' | | '' with the little outward reaching branches on the end. It's a reoccurring symbol in a few Mandalorian things, such as the background on pages in books, and even as lights, and door handles. Even within the heart of the armor.) Maybe not all Mandalorians realize what these symbols mean and to them it means nothing, until hey can be trusted with the knowledge that they can use a technology they've been partially subjected to their whole lives.
This ability to pause and play as needed would give Mandalorians (additional) time required to respond to combat better than simply reacting to it. That would make them appear to be better warriors than anyone else who wasn't aware of what they were doing.
Just spit balling... As I've grown, I've come to realize I enjoy practicing divergent thinking.
