Does Online Multiplayer require EA Access

My 10 yr old son recently purchased this game (Star Wars Battlefront) using his birthday $$. It appears that there are only 2 modes that he can play (in single player / split screen). Everything else appears to require EA Access which is $30 / year additional. Is this true? He is quite disappointed that he can't play multiplayer. He does have Xbox Live Gold and is able to play other EA games multiplayer online.

If EA access is required, do we need to purchase an account for both of my sons to play multiplayer online thus this $70 game is not $130.

I can't find anything online that actually compares what features are included with and without EA Access.

  • I was told by Xbox live help that EA enforces an age limit of 14 and over to play online, at least for Battlefront. And I was told that there was no way to change the age on my child's profile to work around this.

Thank you very much.  Do you know where this is documented anywhere?  Seems like something that should be highlighted prior to purchase (and not just in the small print).  It seems like I have to get a refund.  It looks like you get get 1 refund per year via Xbox Store.

My son is having the same problem:

There is some small print on the back of the game box (I know you bought it digitally though) that says accounts need to be 13+.

This was not advertised to me when I purchased the game from game.co.uk so I am going to try and get a refund however I may not be eligible for the season pass refund as it was delivered digitally which means I've wasted £39.99 GBP.

Why EA have imposed a 13+ requirement on this is beyond me. Surely they know there's a lot of child accounts going to be wanting to play this game as it's Star Wars.

    Very disappointed.

Hi, Did you receive any feedback? I just bought the game to my 13 yr old son in Brasil, and now I have to pay the EA access, Am I right? Without this access he won't be able to play?

@ EA support, please respond it asap, my son is very frustrated. And the cost of this game in Brasil + Xbox Live and now EA access is very expensive for a game.

    Thanks

    Ana
