How to add xbox one players to ps4 for cross play in Squadrons

My friend and I want to play Co op squadrons. He has an Xbox One, I have a PS4. When we try to add each other in game, it says invitation failed. Is there a way to add each other on this site?

If you find out the friend's EA profile name you add that to friends in the social tab in game. You can find EA friends in a separate list under XBL/PSN friends. This is how I play with my friends who are on PC.
