Hi Bastian, thanks for the swift reply. I am operating on Intel i5 750 2.67GHz that has been overlocked to 3.00GHz and my GPU is an AMD R9 280x with 3gb memory.
I too believed (and maybe still do believe?) the issue is related to CPU power. My CPU was operating at factory settings the first time I played the beta, but after encountering the problems mentioned in my first post I decided to over-clock it to closer match the required specifications to play Battlefront and hope this would fix, or at least alleviate the issue. However I found this not to be the case. I also did play the beta again, with applications such as Steam, Skype, and general background applications all closed and this, in combination with the over-clocking seemed to have a slight, beneficial impact but has sadly not fixed the issue entirely and my situation is still similar to the one described above.
I won't be able to play the beta again for around 48 hours, but when I have the chance I will give it another go and ensure that every other non-essential application is closed.
Let me know if you find any other work around or just want me to try something else.
Thank you for your time!
