I am not gonna spend $100+ on a joystick for this game.
All my games in PS4 EU are 8-9 PC players vs 1-2 PS4 players.
PC players don't have any benefit over console players in this game. I do just as well playing on Xbox One X as I do on the PC, no matter if I use a HOTAS or a gamepad on either (that said, I do very poorly when using keyboard and mouse, however). My friends that play excusively on PS4 Pro and Xbox are usually doing very well, too, on their own or flying on my wing.
The only thing that I could imagine may have a little bit of an advantage is playing in Virtual Reality, be it on the PC or on PSVR (sadly, Xbox doesn't support VR so far), but I can't confirm since I don't have a VR headset yet, as you'll be able to look around (hopefully Track IR support will be added at a later date so non-VR users can also experience this) and be more immersed in general.
Most of my random matches have 1-2 PC players, while the rest are on consoles. I'm in central Europe as well.
I never abandon any matches either, even if we happen to get shredded. Defeats are a valuable lesson that one can learn from and get better. If you always quit out of hopeless matches, you'll never get better.
By the way, if you only want to play with like-minded Playstation players, you can always turn crossplay off.
That said, perhaps if you'd have spent the time you've use to spit venom at PC players in these forums to practice and actually become better at the game, you might see that it's all about player skill, teamwork, knowledge of the game and - to an extent - connection quality and not which platform they play on. Or maybe the game just isn't for you.
- 5 years ago@Cave_Waverider VR gives You better immersion in the game and huge plus if You playing on Empire site You can look under or over the instuments to see enemie 🙂 I use HOTAS and Oculus Rift S and I cant imagine play this game other way. First time i "sit" in X-Wing cockpit was my childhood dream come true 🙂
- 5 years ago@Cave_Waverider I disagree. PC players are more prone to having a joystick than console players and are probably more used to flight sim games.
VR, yeah a tiny advantage to look around but you usually end up looking ahead anyways.
ALL my games are in the opposite ratio (90% PC players vs 10% console). I should take screenshots of everygame to prove it.
PC players usually have a KD ratio of 10:1, Console players in all my games are the opposite.
I don't learn anything from flying, seeing an enemy and boom dead. Repeate 20 times, try coming form different angles, etc, nothing works you just get blown up in 2 shots while your lasers are fully emptied on a TIE fighter that doesn't die.
Crossplay OFF on console, I have tried and since launch I have found ZERO games. Perhaps waiting 2 hours for a game is ok for some, not for me.
I understand the game and the skills needed to be good, but as you said its not for me. Spending more $$$ to get a joystick or buying a PC to be decent, no thanks. I'll go back to SWBF2 where I am really good at all game modes, including the starship one.
