I'm highly disappointed that my joystick is not plug & play with this game, and am at a loss for how I'm supposed to get it working.  It was very publicly made clear that joysticks should work with this title, but without it I'm probably going to end up refunding the game since it kills the entire draw for me.

I heard some people have it working and some don’t. The stick is working for me in flight simulator. I heard you can “turn off force” in the properties in the steam version. Anyone have any suggestions? 

@robotbison I was able to find my T.16000m, though I'm affected by a bug when having several connected devices that temporarily did not show my stick until I disabled a different joystick.

Were there any options for joysticks when you launched the game?

Not working for me. I know people have “turned off force” in properties on the steam version. It’s working for me in MS flight simulator. It’s recognizing the stick as an Xbox controller as of now. I’ve tried updating the firmware and plugging the usb in and out. Anyone have any ideas?

Options > Controls > Remap Controls > Flight > Flight Stick Attempt to register Throttle Down to Z-AXIS BWD on the ThrustMaster TWCS. Squadrons does not register Z-AXIS BWD motion. It will only recognize the Z-AXIS FWD motion.

What do you expect to see? Expected behavior is to be able to map the Z-AXIS on the ThurstMaster TWCS for both FWD and BWD motion.

Having the same issue with the same throttle here

Thruster not workign on hotas x

I found a workaround.

I am using the following hardware:

ThrustMaster TWCS
VKB GNX-R PRO

The throttle control on my VKB stick is able to be properly matched for Z-AXIS FWD and BWD. So I went to Options > Controls and scrolled all the way down to Flight Stick > Flight Stick 1 Device and Flight Stick 2 Device. It defaulted to:

Flight Stick 1 Device: TWCS throttle
Flight Stick 2 Device: VKB-Sim Gladiator NXT R

I swapped these so that it was set to:

Flight Stick 1 Device: VKB-Sim Gladiator NXT R
Flight Stick 2 Device: TWCS throttle

I then went to Options > Controls > Remap Controls > Flight > Flight Stick and setup the Throttle Down with my VKB GNX-R PRO throttle and it mapped it to 1 Z-AXIS BWD. I saved the keymap config and went back to Options > Controls and scrolled all the way down to Flight Stick > Flight Stick 1 Device and Flight Stick 2 Device. I swapped the controls back to the default order:

Flight Stick 1 Device: TWCS throttle
Flight Stick 2 Device: VKB-Sim Gladiator NXT R

I am now able to use my TWCS throttle for Throttle Down for 0% to 50%.

What happens when the bug occurs? If you have MFD 2 plugged in then the game only sees the throttle and the rudders and binds the throttle to flight device 1 and takes control of all input. To use the mouse you have to hold down a button. If you unplug MFD 2 then the game can see joystick, throttle and rudders as 3 seperate devices (good) but can't see the useful MDF1.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see all my HID devices and bind them as I wish.

What components were you using? Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, VKB Rudder pedals, two Thrustmaster MFDs, TrackIR, two Logitech Pro Flight Switch Panels.

So, all my controller binding / missing controllers / unable to use the mouse issues are all down to having thrustmaster MFD #2 plugged in,

If I unplug MFD 2 then I get 3 controllers showing up (before it only showed the throttle as device 1 and rudders as device 2 - no stick, and the mouse wouldn't take 'active' control of the game)

and I'm able to use the mouse and bind my stick, throttle and rudders.

The MFD 1 (which has lots of useful buttons) is NOT recognised and therefore unbindable. ☹️
