Bounty Hunter Companion Missing NOT KoTFE Related

I just completed the bounty hunter class quests on Taris and unlocked Torian Cadera, had a couple dialogues with him on my ship, then proceeded to the next planet and...  He's no longer on my compani...

I just got Torian on my bounty hunter, and he was in my companions list briefly.  He is no longer there after I finished the Taris mission completely.
