Help! No sound in SWOTOR

I installed SWTOR yesterday after a good few years of not playing, and resubscribed before the install finished, however, I’m having issues now after booting up the game - I had no problems installing, but after I started that game there was no sound. I just had a loud click and then nothing. A few moments later, a crash to desktop while on the character screen.
It’s really odd, because I have the sound when the play button illuminates, and for god measure I can get sound when I watch an intro scene from the character select menu, but nothing from in game. I can’t get past the point of logging a character in at all as the game freezes for a moment then reverts to desktop without any error message.

I have scoured the Internet and tried every suggestion from ctrl+s to checking sound levels, to disabling other sound devices but have not fixed it, so this is my last resort before I give up. My other games run fine. I have tried reinstalling, and did so on my SSD the second time, but still the same.
I’m running Windows 10 fully updated, GTX 1050Ti, AMD FX 6300 and using a Corsair void wireless headset (dongle is recognised as. a sound card) - I have even tried disabling my void, and tried using my sound blaster card as default, but having the same problem. A loud click but no sound - incidentally this click also happens if I go into sound setting and check or uncheck enable sound from the character select screen. I don’t know what else to do since sometimes some games use the wrong sound card as default, which is easily remedied by switching it to the void, but in swotor I don’t se an option to do this. To get around this I had tried disabling the unused sound blaster but nope. Any help would be appreciated

MSVCR90.dll is a Microsoft Visual C Runtime Link Library

0xc000012f  error as displayed indicates corruption , most likely C++ is corrupted this issue is outside of the game itself although it is stopping the game from launching.

Microsoft offers the latest versions via this link  and i would start with C++ 2012

There maybe some other thing going on here causing issues , a fresh install should not have a corrupted C++ version

Run a chkdsk and check the memory sticks etc , i suspect if not already you are going to see errors appearing from more then just swtor

  • Totally convinced that this game truly hates me.

I’ve done a fresh install today AFTER installing windows, let it finish, clicked play and..... nothing.

No evidence of it running in task manager, no screen flicker, just... nothing.

I have now disabled bitraider, which appears to be totally redownloading the whole game. This is getting farcical now. I’m trying to get it working because it’s bugging me, but this amount of errors from this game considering everything else runs great, is making me firmly point the finger towards the game and or programming being the antagonist here.

For me, this is a last try and then it’s gone - uninstalled and forgotten about, which is a shame as it used to work without any issues when I last played it. Oh well, win some loose some eh?

Are you removing bit raider as per the steps here?

Also what anti-virus and firewall are you using?  Is window and all drivers up to date?

  • After another install without bitraider, it informed me that some .dll file wasn’t designed to run on Windows and to reinstall it. I noticed when I went to uninstall that there where 2 versions of the game on my drive.

I’m totally stumped as to why this game has so many issues, and I haven’t even been able to play it.

So I’m done. Thanks for attempting to help, but this game is now dead to me. I’ve wasted roughly 12hrs trying to get this thing to work, more if you factor in I did a complete windows install only for something else to go wrong. RIP SWTOR

    Here's the error popup btw...

that error means nothing to me
