SWTOR Wont install, and when I force an installation I have problems w/connection
Alright I am at my wits end, and after multiple hours attempting to fix this issue I have decided to seek help from you all.
I am a returning player, coming back after some time. I initially tired installing through the Origin Client (I have Origin 9 I think if that makes a difference) with a computer WELL above the system specs needed to run. The installer from Origin wouldn't install the game, it'd get to a point, then nothing.
So I then got the installed from the SWTOR site, and encountered the same issue.
I googled around and found this solution: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=828188. It told me to go into my appdata, and manually extract the launcher and it's files, place them in a location where I want to install it, and run it. I did so and the game updated the launcher and downloaded the game without any issues.
However when I connect to the game (on Harbinger server if it matters) I cannot stay in game for more than a few minutes (though I can mess about i ncharacter generation for seemingly as long as I wish) before my connection dies. It doesn't kick me, but the meter in the bottom right shows I am disconnected, and I am seemingly unable to reconnect, forcing me to restart the game.
As I said I am a returning player, and I never had an issue like this before when I played, and my internet speeds now are actually better than my speeds then, so I don't think it has anything to do with my ISP.
I am thinking it has to be connected to the way the game "installed", maybe some files didn't work correctly or something, but I am not tech-savvy and have reached the end of my knowledge, please help.
Ping times is in what I was looking for with a 30 - 40 ms range so they have come good on the modem restart.
See what they are tonight if exchange congestion they will go huge again in peak periods.
the 2nd plot is showing some packet loss at the modem and larger spiking but nothing that really screams major issue.
Based on the previous plots and the fact a modem restart had a major noticeable speed affect , there is only 3 things
1. Wireless Connection
2. Modem itself
3. Link issue.
1. you can test your self with looking at the wireless strength, also if you are currently on 5Ghz wireless for example and have 2.4 Ghz also, swap to the 2.4Ghz for affect.
2.4Ghz will be more stable at longer distances then 5Ghz.
2. can only be tested by trying a different modem. (if ISP modem they may offer a replacement).
3. link can be tested by your internet service provider.
