"Casual" Guilds

Does "casual" mean the guild gets 15k-18k tickets a day with half or more people getting under 600 tickets or none at all, but somehow most players manage to click "join" during TWs just to get 0 banners there too?  And guild leaders and officers that have "inactivity x days" policy but don't even notice people are logging in but not getting a single ticket or log in only on Saturdays to get a couple hundred tickets and beg for free gear? Do "casual" guilds always have at least one person that plays the shopping game and logs in to star/gear characters but who doesn't actually use energy to get tickets or join any events?

Yeah, I get it.  You "have a life."  You "play when you can."

Isn't there a certain level of commitment when joining a guild with other players or is it normal for half the player base to leech?  Where do the people that actually play fit in?  Is it just the high GP guilds that have active participants?

This is definitely not a rant of course.  It's just curiosity.  Some people participate.  A lot don't.  But why can't the people that all participate get together?

  • Zero Participation in Territory Wars is understandable. I was just in a guild that filled every defensive position 6 hours before Territory Wars defense setting closed, mostly by the Guild Officers. My teams are mostly sitting at Gear XII and the opposing guild had two front walls of Relic 8 Galactic Legends. No rewards for me in that TW event, and I took the opportunity to switch guilds to one that was running ROTE instead of Geonosis.

That’s terrible leadership from that guild. You did well leaving.

  • The defintion of "casual" depends on the person reading it and who made that claim about their guild.  As does "casual competitive" - the term is meaningless.

I was in guilds that were casual, similar to what you described, but when lack of participation (and inability to finish HSTR back when it was new) made me want to leave and find an even more casual guild because i didn't want to deal with the stress of having to beat my head against the wall to get enough points in HSTR.

And when i was looking for a "smaller guild", I actually found a bigger guild that was just as casual, but everyone did their part.  Most everyone got tickets, TW win rate was solid, and TB stars were good.  I eventually became an officer in that guild and stuck around for a while.  By the time i left, the guild had fallen off a bit, no longer competitive in TW, but still good in TB.  Raids were hit or miss.

And I found a different guild that didn't describe themselves as casual, but based on the friend that recruited me, said it was just as casual as my previous guild.  And he was right.

So to summarize my long winded answer, don't pay attention to the labels that someone puts on their guild (casual, competitive, relaxed, etc), just look at their results (TW win rate, which raid box are they getting, TB stars) and ask questions of the officers (or whoever is recruiting you).  Find out how often they launch raids (hint, 30K tickets means raids launch every 6 days.  If it is close to that, you know everyone is getting close to 600 per day).  Ask about the stuff that is important to you.  And you'll eventually find the right guild for you

I fill 2-3 spots at the beginning to guarantee my rewards and only within the last hour (if I'm around), try to add more if there are empty spaces.  I realize everyone can't get on right when it opens though and even if everyone could, there'd be people that still fill entire zones by themself.  I don't really know of a solution to that situation though, but it sounds like it worked out in the long run for you.

For sure there's been times guilds I've been in had around 18 out of 35 signups get 0 even when there weren't even full zones.  I've even encouraged in chat to drop a couple teams down to get rewards, but it doesn't help.  It's really bizarre to me.

There's a real and interesting theory that some people are actually NPCs in life and have no consciousness.  Maybe some of the ones I see in guild aren't programmed properly.

It would help if there was tag for "serious" and "semi-serious" and "casual" in guild listings.  "Semi-competitive" and "competitive" are different to me and just sound like TW focused.

Next time I look for a guild, I'll have to do a little research I guess.

    • I would recommend a family of guilds.
    • There are a lot of guilds that are aligned, and they are generally run by very knowledgeable players.
    • This enables new players to begin in one of their guilds that are for fresh accounts, and have low requirements (often filled with alts of active elder players).
    • Once you have developed your roster more, you can move up to one of their larger guilds in the alliance.
    • Look for a cluster of about 8+  guilds.  You can find them on the Discord SWGOH recruiting server (posted by Crazy Doid), or here in the forums.
