If your data bears out after increasing the sample size, then I’d say that GP is probably still the best way to make the matches “fair”. I mean, a fair fight DOESN’T assume both fighters are at the same skill level, just that neither is handicapped. Based on your preliminary data, skill level and not any sort of gear/zeta handicap was the deciding factor, meaning that this is probably what most would consider fair. The main difference between this and the squad arena is that people can buy extra gear/toons to give themselves an advantage in the squad arena (e.g. handicap the other players), but since that increases their overall GP it won’t give them an advantage in GA.
