Just curious what other guild policies on this are. Obviously, before join periods were implemented, the posting 0 damage and hold posting for 1 hour was normal. Since STR isn't simmable yet we still enforce this in my guild (The damage hold for 1 hour). As an officer i've got some messages from other members about changing this policy as it seems to be a remnant of the past, but the argument for it I guess is that auto-join still ranks your place, all the 0s don't tie, you could end up in 50th place still so a damage hold period allows those that make the effort to at least rank higher.

We just stick with the join period. Due to life and timezones the raid is usually up for a few hours so if members can't get a hit in during that time that's on them and it's been mentioned to them. At least with the join period members can still get the rewards even if it's a low place for not contributing.Outside of some gear components and shards place doesn't mean much. And it's still a toss up on if you get the gear pieces you want when placing high.

Besides, we only have about 2-3 players that solo and, including them, up to 15 people who even bother to do any damage at all.

My guilds a pretty laid back.mid range....if it's open for attack, go for it. Most of the time the top echelon won't bother so it allows other less developed members to try. We moved away from mandatory rules along time ago, as they made the whole experience less fun.

We stopped doing that months ago. Probably around the time JMK came out and there was more than one solo option available.

We only hold full solos for 30 mins. Anything less than a full is 15 minutes.

All raids "kill it with fire, kill it now, kill it quickly" if you are worried about top rewards etc, get a merc group going, plenty of opportunities Can't wait for HSTR to be simmable.

We don't have a hold period. We rotate through 6 different start times to accommodate people with different schedules.

Thanks for the insight everyone, and to clarify I guess I misspoke when I said 1-hour hold period. I meant 1-hour post for Full Solos. There is no hold for incremental damage. I think maybe reducing the hold to 30 mins as some of you mentioned might make people happy.
