The biggest problem is that virtually every team is a mix of the last several characters to be released. They keep making the newest characters more powerful than every other previous one. Aside from a few tweaks like adding zetas, all of the older characters are pretty much irrelevant in arena, and as a result GW is similar.
All this makes sense from a business standpoint. The new character is OP so if you want to stay on top you must spend money to get him. In my arena 48 of the top 50 teams have CLS and the other two have Thrawn. They are almost entirely a mix of those two characters plus R2, Nihilus, GK, raid Han, Chaze and Zariss. There is literally no variety at all anymore because almost every new character is made OP so people will be tempted to spend money to get them.
I still like collecting the characters and playing around but without any kind of practice sandbox mode it's becoming less fun every day.
