Interesting character decisions

Just a quick rant so feel free to ignore ....

With all the Jedi and rebels in the game, why have they decided to give us so many 'generic' toons in those factions - JKG, Consular, HRScout, HRSolider, Scarif, etc. There are more than enough named toons in these factions that the random ones aren't needed. Even from the beginning there were too many Jedi characters, and now rebels have joined them.

I know the new movie came out so you had to add some rebels, but you added all of them, plus a toon whose name no one would pick up from the movie (won't post spoiler) and another generic toon. Also, adding only one generic empire toon (though he is awesome).

On the other hand the rest of the factions, many of whom have 5 or less toons could've used these 'generic' toons on their side to possibly make them viable to use.

Can we slow down on the rebels and Jedi and add some other toons next before EP 8 and the Res/FO adds (though they both need some more).

And what is the point of the separatist faction - I don't recall seeing anyone with a separatist leader ability

Rant over

I think the root of this probably comes from how toons are coded and released. We know from data mining and LS/DS/event battles that they have a large cache of characters coded and probably ready to go out the door with some fine tuning.

But to maintain long term interest they have to keep enough 'premium' characters waiting on the wings or else the motivation to chase the next unlock diminishes e.g. would we have been as buzzed about unlocking Stormtrooper Han in a T7 Pit if we already had Han Solo in our inventory?

If we accept this as their model for release schedules then we could surmise that the next big driver is money and attempting to maintain interest from the player base. In the beginning, Jedi were the obvious hook as it's fair to say, most Star Wars fans love Jedi. Recently, with the release of Rogue One, many new players will have been drawn to the game by the film and want to immerse themselves in the struggle of the Rebellion.

In about 6 months we'll probably see the start of another push for saga characters like Jedi Rey, old Luke and Snoke. In the interim we'll probably get a few 'fringe' characters and more fleshing out of other aspects of the game like ships. With Rebels being at an interesting time, we still have that entire series to draw on... and wouldn't the Ghost fit nicely in ship battles? (",)

It's like they were brainstorming a really good idea to make a separatist team, then totally got sidetracked, left it in the game and never finished it. There is no use for the separatist tag lol.

That's what I thought as well, or they have something coming down the line, but heck if I know who they could add as a separatist leader.

I think the separatist affiliation got added with ships, but there have always been weird ones, for example there used to be a human tag which was kind of weird

Yeah, I know we all want Jedi Luke or Jedi Master Luke, but he is the 'wait til next big event' toon I'm guessing. Released in the summer while the Star Wars hype is at its lowest to keep us interested (I stopped playing in the spring/summer last year and missed EP the first time around like an idiot).

The only problem is several of the big name toons left already fall into Jedi, rebel or both. There will be a couple more big releases for FO, resistance, scoundrel and maybe droids (R2, 3PO, BB-8), but other than those not a ton of 'cannon' left for anyone else (I love KotOR, but not sure they will add the Sith/Jedi/other from there, HK is the only one so far). And it'll be hard to get people excited about Tusken Mid-Wife and Separatist Cook.

The only other series left is Rebels and by default they are all or mostly all rebels.

Just a rant on the limited number of options at high level arena - but they have opened up recently with Emperor round 2 and Boba redo and the zeta's. So hoping it continues.

Note: I stole Tusken Mid-Wife from another poster, but can't remember who, I was laughing my *** off when I read it.
  • And it'll be hard to get people excited about Tusken Mid-Wife and Seperatist Cook

I am already pumped about Seperatist Cook! I just put my first penny in the penny jar to start saving for him! Hoping he will be a bad-arse because everyone knows not to "F" with the cook.
  • Any ewoks are welcome...Aurra Sing would be freaking awesome (please make her tough! She was one hard to kill bad-azz alien amazon warrior woman) jango and padme would be kewl....but jar jar....as much as meesa wantsa jar jar thesa bigwiggs at disnep willa never takesa jar jar backsa in...

The rejection of jar jar broke Lucas's will and was the straw that broke him into selling out to disney. Imho.

But then again stranger things have happened
  • Problem is that power creep would make new generics way too good. TFP was well done, but the new rooms will completely crush someone of a GS mold as a generic toon, without debuffs. A generic to overcome this would be too good for its movie role
