Jyn Tournament and Beyond - Shards Only Please

With the second Jyn tournament upcoming, this request is more important than ever. Please change tournaments to only rewards shards from now on (as opposed to full character plus shards). Otherwise every person who has unlocked Jyn already, whether from a top 100 in the first tournament or buying the bundle, is set to miss out on 48 shards because of the full character conversion rate of 32/80. This is almost twice as severe a penalty as the 25 shard penalty for the second Shoretrooper event.

It's bad enough that people were burned by the first tournament who bought the bundle and immediately unlocked Jyn before that tournament. Please don't let this continue. Otherwise you're penalizing your paying customers who buy bundles and invest heavily into multiple tournaments. Full characters may make sense for Chromiums, but they don't belong in tournament rewards.

Not to mention, it makes the math so much easier for everyone.

Developers, please, please, make this happen.
  • It's funny you post this, about 1 hour ago I sent @CG_RyDiggs a pm with the same request. I too complained about the inequality of shard conversion and how players are actually penalized rewards for participating in the second tournament for a toon because the breakdown of whole character reward.
  • Nobody will just ragequit like dude... we will just take it and keep going because well jyn is pretty awesome. Yes im one of the ones who got her at 5* from tourney and have stockpiled half a million ally points to do it again...

Getting shafted on conversion rate stinks, but im commited.
  • They would only do this if they wanted to be nice... and that's not really in the business model.

I honestly like this idea because it allows players that didn't unlock her to have a better chance, as it un incentives those that unlocked him especially at a high lvl.

Blasphemy! You just called jyn a man!

Even though she kinda does look like a man in game (haven't seen movie yet)

One small problem with this though.
What about those that won't get an unlock the second time around who would normally get a shot, that now wouldn't stand a chance?
Take their shot away, and a whole lot of royally ticked off players are suddenly going to leave in droves.
It seems somewhat unwise to me, at least from a longterm financial perspective.

How do you figure? They are getting the same number of shards. I think what OP is saying is instead of "Jyn +20 shards" the prize would be "100 Jyn shards." Because people who already have her unlocked would only get 52 shards or whatever it would be.
  • It's better this way. It makes the character more accessible because there will be less competition in the second tournament. Those that already unlocked her won't go so hard again
  • I unlocked her at 5* and have neglected the other tourneys to save ally points and will coming at you with even more vim and vigor because i need more to finish her since she a tournament exclusive....

Hence do as OP says or make her available elsewhere.
  • To those saying the current system discourages people from pushing on the second tournament, it's really the opposite. I need 140 shards personally to finish my Jyn. The 48 shards I lose from the conversion means I need to push for a top 5 probably, instead of maybe only needing a top 25. Thus I'm preventing somebody else placing top 5 if I push. So there really isn't any way shards over full characters benefits anyone.

Which makes it less worthwhile for prior openers to chase her, broadening the opportunity to open her to others who would recieve only sour grapes for their efforts.

As I just posted above, it just forces us to push harder to complete our initial investment. So if you think those with 4* and 5* Jyn aren't going to be among those pushing for top finishes in the next tournament, you're in for a rude awakening. Whereas if we weren't losing those 48 shards, we wouldn't have to finish as high, which would allow others to finish higher.
  • I agree with DrD and believe that Mithrawnuodo is mistaken to assume that maintaining the status quo will result in less competition.

Say one has Jynn unlocked at 6 stars. One needs another 100 shards to push her to 7 stars, where she can start becoming useful in raids as well.

Under the current prize structure, where we are awarded a full character plus shards, one will need to get into top 5 to get the required number of shards to 7 star (40 from converted full character + 95 shards). Spots 6-10 only award 40 + 30 = 70 shards, so one will still be 30 shards short.

However, if we are only awarded shards, and we are given the full 80 shards instead of a character, then finishing top 10 will be enough to get to the requisite 7 stars.

As such, I believe that a shard only structure should result in less competition rather than more.
