Not so generic Generic Charakters
I just wonder why I could use 1 of a generic character (from now on shorten to GC), if they represent just one of a dozen. The following ideas could bring the concept of masses of GC back.
1. Improved GC
At some pointof improvement a GC may not be generic any more. My first suggestion equipment level 6 and 5 or 6 stars. At this point the player may choose from two different names. Each name posses slightly different skills from another and are a little bit better than the GC. After naming the GC, he count as Improved (IGC), and they could start with a fresh GC, if he gets enough shards. When this second GC reach the improvement, the player could name him with the second name and could start with a third one. But this one could never improved to IGC.
Example: After the TIE-Fighter Pilot reach the imp rovement point the player may choose from 'Black 2' or from 'Black 3' (Vaders wingmen in the Death Star Trench). One may posses a little better skills for squad fighting the the normal pilot, and the other may be a little better in fleet actions than the normal pilot. Later the player named the second pilot with the remaining name and start a third pilot. So his roster has the Characters of 'Black 2', 'Black 3' and 'TIE-Fighter Pilot'. Every time he gets a shard he must assign it to one of this three. He could still never posses more then one of the GC at the same time.
2. Mass attacks
If you use a GC during Galactic War (not IGC) and he dies, he will replace by a new GC of the same type (TIE-Pilot by a new TIE pilot). But this one lost 1 star, 1 equipment rank and 10 level, but only temporary. If this replacement also dies, a new one is added, but he lost 1 more star, 1 rank and 10 levels to the one he replace. And so on, until the reductions brings stars, rank or level below 1. At this point no more replacement! If one of the replacements survive a fight, he will get 1Star, 1 rank and 10 levels back, but could never posses more then the original one. When Galactic War is reset, also all reduction of the GC are erased.this could also used in normal battles, but the GC should lose twice as much (2*, 2ranks and 20 Level). After all there are no consequences for loosing a character during fights
