Old Ben Taunt through Fracture Intentional..?

Guys, just a quick question, is Old Ben taunt through Fracture intentional or a bug..??

  • The theorizing is probably true, but it doesn't even matter how the order of operations works. The point is that Old Ben's zeta will allow him to taunt through Thrawn's Fracture. This is specifically intended. This game is all about an arms race. First your enemy can pick anyone on your team to attack, so you add Taunt to control who the enemy can attack, but that's annoying, so you allow some characters to dispel it. But that's annoying, so you create a passive taunt (Royal Guard or Baze) or one that comes back immediately when dispelled (Old Ben). But that's annoying so you have some characters that can ignore Taunt. But that's annoying, so you make characters that can stealth all but one toon, which is like a super Taunt that can't be ignored. But that's annoying, so the next obvious step is a character who can target through stealth... don't say you weren't warned.

It's not breaking the rules. Ben's taunt comes back immediately after it expires. Then fracture is applied. Other tanks are stuck with fracture and then their taunt conditions are met and the buff is blocked by fracture. I don't see any issue with the order of operations here.

But if the taunt is reapplied before Fracture goes through, it should be removed again when Fracture is applied.

The whole point of Fracture is that it completely removed one character from the fight, while making Thrawn a bunch less useful as well. If they start adding characters who can still be useful through Fracture, it's just a huge slap in the face to Thrawn. His key ability suddenly loses a huge amount of its relevance.

And, in case it wasn't obvious enough, this whole thing does seriously annoy me, because it seems like they're already trying to push the last relevant Empire character from the meta.

How long is it going to be before they make such a direct counter to all the obscenely powerful Rebels like Luke and Han? It took them eight months to mostly push Chaze from the meta, and that was only because more people managed to unlock GK, while they also released a direct counter in Thrawn.

I agree! If there is even one character who can overcome Thrawn's Fracture with a Taunt then that's an insult to him and this ability becomes irrelevant. There is a reason this ability should kick ass, after all this is Grand Admiral Thrawn we are talking about and he is supposed to be that powerful, but the devs are thinking "hey let's fuck his ability up, because we love Rebels more"!
