$500 I think is probably a tad high. I was reading a couple threads and some chats in my guild's Discord chat and it looks like it took players somewhere between $100 and $200 in crystal purchases to 7-star Wedge with the recent Aurodium release. The price seemed to depend on how much RNG there was in what the pack awarded.
