Question about tournament cheaters

So reading the threads about the latest tournament, I keep seeing references to "cheaters". Can someone please educate me about this? What's a tournament cheater? What do they do exactly, how are they cheating? And are they really that prevalent?

Cheaters use exploits. All suspected cheaters should be reported to @CG_LucifersDaddy via a PM.

I'm just trying to educate myself... I see a lot of posts about this, but no one ever explains what happens, they simply say that some people are cheating... I'd just like to know what to look out for, so I can help the situation by reporting it, that is all...
