Release Cadence

Answering that in the affirmative is not so hard when it takes a month to farm your "favorite" toon to 7 star (after waiting for them to get to the "easy to farm" stage), but really is rather difficult when your "favorite" gets stuck on a single hard node (or event that comes back 1.5 times per month, for example).

Unfortunately "the last step" as you put it was never stated as a goal or anything like that in the release cadence. The last step was always stated as a node or shipment and that's it. This is also the step that is being handled differently with the new toons.

The release cadence was all about getting toons to farmable and that's it. How easy/hard/long the farm is from that point is another discussion that can be had but has nothing to do with the release cadence.

You are convoluting the spirit/idea of something with implementation. For instance, as noted, with several new toons, things are being handled differently than the explicit implementation from the cadence post you referred to (and that has been mentioned by me and perhaps others in this thread...so we are well aware of it). As that implementation is different, one must either cry foul (i.e. "YOU DIDN'T DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID") or ask, "Is this in the spirit/idea of what was claimed." Of course, the latter is subject to multiple interpretations.

* Give new character releases the pomp and circumstance they deserve.
* Release new characters more regularly to keep the game fresh.
* Get the characters into your hands!
* Additionally, for those of you that are able to complete the events and are so inclined to purchase packs, the events will enable you to progress part of the way to their 7 star version for free.

Let me highlight "Get the characters into your hands"! Let's not get hung up on "They're implementing exactly as they said they would." when the statement was "The spirit/idea is not being lived up to." Luckily, I assume "We’re going to be monitoring your feedback and the data as it comes in on these events and make the appropriate tunings to bring you the best experience we can." is still happening (which is why we all take the time to write this stuff).

As far as does EA/CG do this? YES!!!! A resounding YES!!!!!! Heroes of Dragon Age. A crazy new toon releases and if you want a shot at it, buy packs, and they've built in GUARANTEED drops. No shards in the game btw, you just get them. It's a matter of building from there, BUT. Within a matter of months, if you're one that's focused on a team that can handle LUDACRIS event difficulty, then farm away because those SOB's drop like candy. I've been playing that game for over 4 years and I'm still nowhere near a complete roster. BUT it's fun and FEELS rewarding. When toons are not so hard to obtain and sitting in events, IMO, it's a lot easier to get a lot of people to drop $10 to get crystals for refreshes.

SWGoH people, go talk to your co-workers at HoDA. Bring a pen and notepad.

I like to think of these events as a mix between marquee(with a release cadence) and chromium only - like Rex and maul were at one time. Ftp will get shards every month but won't be able to use them in raids/later phases in tb or gear 12 them for a long long while. If you're an ewok or ns fan you have to spend money to probably get the best toons out of that faction.

My concerns are this - since these characters are "released" will they be needed in platoons?
How many events should we expect?

I think an over saturation of these events might hinder spending more than anything. Talzin is unique because she has new debuff. While wicket looks great, if I had to choose I would go talzin.
Can we expect all these new toons and their events to come with new debuffs and buffs and will some be needed on let's say like a heroes journey a la r2 and CLS.

And with more toons added this way that means more and more events (yay for me) but I know a lot of players are concerned with the amount of time they spend in game.

I'm sure events will be available more than once a month and I'm sure the powers that be are monitoring these comments closely. So if you see a bunch of wickets and talzins at 7* rest assured more and more will be released in this way.

I would just like to point out the release cadence is only for marquee event toons, so there are only 2 toons following a modified version of the last step in the cadence. (MT and Wicket)

My point is that we have a timeline for them to be farmable (the spirit of the release cadence ). So they will be in your hands, just not the exact way stated in the cadence. I understand this may not be what people want or are looking for but the implementation again follows through with the idea of where this cadence came from. To get released toons farmable.

Your feedback is always appreciated and I'm sure will go to the right eyes and ears, but my point is that they are not changing things that much and therefore may not consider that any major changes need to be made, because the "spirit of the cadence " is being honored. I just hope people can understand that changes don't always occur, not because they don't listen, but because they are not always necessary.

Edit to add:

Both spirit and zombie are in (from how its worded) immediate recurring events, so they are going from release to farm with no void. So they are also "in the hands of the players" without needing to go through the cadence. This IMO would also be following the spirit of the cadence, even though they are not marquee and we're not subject to the same system.

The initial Defense of Dathomir event is for two days, but the future monthly events are currently planned to only run a single day. As always, we may change the duration in the future.

Ah well in that case I am wrong. However, the last sentence does suggest that there is the possibility of extending the event to more than a day or more than once a month.

Exactly. The one magic phrase "Subject to change" is what keeps my hopes up for the farm to be a bit easier than the 2 years it would currently take for FtP players. It might not be this year (and frankly I would be delightedly surprised if it did) but sometime down the road. Heck maybe next October it could even be something special such as running the event both days of the weekend every weekend that month. That's at least 80 shards for FtP players which will lighten the farming load significantly. That would be sweet.

Don't know about fresh but we are definitely getting new characters more regularly

This never stated getting a 7* character in your hands. Prior to these marquee events and regular "legendary" events most new characters went chromium or audrium only meaning only way to unlock was spend crystals. With the exception of CLS all the new characters have been obtainable at less than 7* at a higher rate for FTP than they ever were.

As far as the timelines there is that word "approximately" in there that means just that. It is the plan can be delayed.

This new cadence was introduced starting with Darth Nihlus, Sith Assasin, and SIth Trooper. Which all characters since (except wicket) has followed.

They also never said how easy/fast or whatever you want to call it that there were going to be to get when they moved to "board"

Even though wicket and mother talzin will not be going to "board" the same way they are still going to board.
as for wicket they gave you 12 weeks to work on the characters needed to work on him and even ended up giving you 20 shards for their screw up to get the 5th ewok to 4*. It is not like this was a sudden development. Same with mother talzin they gave you ~12 weeks notice to work on getting 5 NS to be able to do the event.

Our current plan is to have nearly all of our new characters (aside from some VERY special characters which we plan to release through “Yoda-styled” events) released through the new event structure for the near future.

It was also stated that not every character would be released thru marquee style events.

Just because they have 2 characters going the Heroic event farming route doesn't mean that every new character is going that route. Does it suck for some yeah but I don't really see any "violation" of release cadence. Hell I love the heroic battles it is nice doing something else besides sim, sim, sim, sim, kitten about drop rate, sim, sim, sim kitten about drop rate repeat.
