So this is how things work?

Why is it that when new toons come out they get better overall stats then anything previous. Don't get me wrong more choices are great but they shouldn't make you change your whole lineup. Just look at the blaze and shoretrooper combo, crazy high protection and health (who has better). New toons getting like 4 or 5 abilities/attacks. I love strategy but making most toons useless after new toon intro is not the answer. Top teams using 3 or more of the same toon combo with a 90+ toon roster is not diverse.

  • Things are different when it's freemium. If this was a console game, things might be different. Freemium games make their money from people constantly trying to be the best. In order for that to happen, they need to constantly bring in content that out performs the previous content. That's called power creep. There's nothing to be done about it because it's intentional. Either spend money knowing you'll soon be outclassed in a few months by new content, be okay not being ranked highly in different areas of the game, or stop playing are the only viable options and all are equally ok.
  • There is an illusion that "old" toons are useless because new toons do something better or have an extra skill.

I'm not here to argue OP or anything like that, but the to be the best you need to be the new meta just isn't true. It will be easier and you may be less of a target, but this game is pretty fair to f2p players.

Older players also have more toons that are possibly going to get a rework, so all that old grinding doesn't go to waste.

Yes there can never be balance and there will always be forward progress to incentives spending. That's the game we are playing, business first, game second, star wars 3rd.

I agree cause if star wars was 1st priority the toons would better match canon.

Yeah, I was happy they tried to work in more of the story in the Anikin rework....but that seems to be a unique thing. They take some fair liberties but they do ok. It's gotta be a hard balance.
  • They need to at least match chaze or improve on that. If you are still trying to get cup and magmatrooper working then yeah these new ones are super op.
  • I think it's just the ability damage and bonuses that are getting kind of over-inflated, the base stats of some new characters seem kind of mediocre for all the gear needed
Edit: except tanks, the new tanks have been totally awesome
