I’m also struggling to understand OW’s point here.
An Assault Battle (or Era Battle or whatever the newer variants are called) will already have filtered your characters to show only those that are usable, so using filters could be considered unnecessary.
The autofill feature will also pick your 5 highest GP eligible characters, which may or may not be the actual team you want to use in that battle. I remember Smuggler’s Run 2, before we were able to sim it, would always have Han and Chewy in my autofill lineup that I had to manually change every time.
But those issues aside, picking teams for an Assault battle is something you’ll do once, or at worst a handful of times. Deselecting autofilled characters is something I’m doing repeatedly every single time our guild launches the O66 raid. All 5 squads I use are undermanned and if I retreat and retry I have to deselect autofilled characters every single time.
Maybe there’s a compromise here. I’d be far happier if the game did not autofill empty slots when you had already attempted the battle with empty slots? Hitting the confirm button 14 times this morning after the 3 man clone team didn’t get the desired opening RNG got boring pretty fast.
