This is an inevitable issue with the game.. and as time drags on, only gets worse.
Even between whales they do not have the same RNG access to secondary mod stats going through the roof. Secondary speed stats have invalidated team speed leader powers and traditional speed synergy teams. Finding speed-based primary arrow mods is already taxing enough for the player base- but was traditionally thought to be limited to +30.
Secondary speed stats must have completely missed the balancing nerf.
We now have Sun Fac's, Old Bens and other not-supposed-to-be-200+ speed toons well, going first. This is drastically changing the games balance to harmful levels.
The ONLY way to compete, is to ignore said player or find your own +18, 19 even +20 speed mod secondary stats... and this can cost insurmountable cash akin to playing the lottery.
If you are in a situation where Old Ben has something like 230 speed, the first thing he does is set the entire team back 2 turns with -60% tm, 50% less power and no access to abilities. Why even play toons?
I've been around since early December hanging in there. I've survived two precraft fiasco's and raid grinding, but this one is taking the cake.
Anyone else on vet servers feeling the issue yet? Is this really how things are going to pan out in this game? Where toon strats are invalidated by a small subset of secondary stats?

Those two pictures show 5* mods from the Offense mod and critical chance mod challenges which require at least five 5* First order and Scoundrel characters. Being that it takes farming characters that we probably wouldn't other wise have farmed and/or either buying those mods from the mod shop, I personally feel that those requirements deserve to have mods with extremely better stats than normal. It takes a lot of time to level, star, gear up characters along with a lot of credits as well. So mods should have really great stats if not better than the normal ones most people are using. The rewards should be worth the effort put in to obtain them.
If someone isn't using mods at all then I could understand the frustration of losing to a fully modded team like this..but most people are using mods, in other words having mods with lower speeds is still better than fighting someone and you are using no mods. At least using something will keep the speed balance closer than if you weren't using anything at all. I'm not saying you won't beat them but at least you have a better chance.
Honestly I don't think this is a big issue at all. EA already nerfed/changed/fixed those really crazy high number mods soon after release. It caused a lot of people to seek compensation from Apple/Andriod because they spent real money to buy mods and after the change w/lower numbers those mods wasn't exactly the same product originally bought. Basically it was false advertisement. If EA was to do this again, I could easily foresee the same thing happening again as for as customers seeking compensation goes. This game is more balanced than ever before. There are still many characters that need buffs and for those it is possible to use certain mods to make them closer to being viable.
Mods are now fine like they are. We all just need to work on unlocking the best ones we can find. This seems more like a simple case of the have and the have~nots to be honest. Just because there are people who don't have them, IS NOT a good enough reason to want something nerfed or changed. It's actually quite unfair to the people who have them. The have~nots just need to continue farming specific mods no matter how horrible the drop rate. Eventually you will all get them.
I'd also like to add that I'm on a vet server since December 18th and easily take rank 5-1 everyday at payout. I've spent money but I'm far from being considered a whale.
