Team droïd no more viable ? Constant indirect Nerf on them.

Hi Everyone,

I come to all of you toi discuss about the droïds and team droïd.
I don't know if it's me who have a gameplay issue or something else near.... But i truely believe that droïds are still not very viable in arena...

On My Side : They all are almost maxed : HK (L), IG86, IG88, B2, JE.

It's difficult to switch any of them, because each one have something for the team... BUT... in other terms, i really think that each of them, individually speaking, are not very strong. All new caracters come with a plenty of abilities... and when you look...
- HK, ok he hit strong, and passive made that he is a lead, but it's all. His special is not so special, and don't hit strong and malus stay just for 1 turn. He is a tank withou taunt.
- B2, even though he is so usefull hits like a baby girl.
- IG's are strong... but so fragile.
- JE is here just for the TM buff at the beginning. Is always focussed and die everytime at the first round.

They all have only 3 abilities (except JE) that, at the end, limit them a lot.
And in arena you see only WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS WIGGS.

So... if 86's assist fall or on B2 or JE or don't crit... it's the end ! And it's not all, if you make the mistake to AOE, you die, cause biggs fill his TM and shoots you. So you can't debuff other team to make 88 stronger, so you can't beat Wedge easily. Abilty block is subject to the 50% chance AND potency. So you can't count on this.
Then Wiggs shoot you directly 1 body. And it's finish.

In a lot of others case you can't do Anything.
- Shoretrooper Team... You can't do anything if you're not enough lucky to make hit your B2 first.
- Counter Team with IGD Lead, you droid's blows away.
- Rex Lead.. i don't speak about it it's make me cry.

I was always in the 25-35 rank.. But it's more and more hard to stay here.. I just pass over the 50 and it's difficult to come back under the 50...

In the end, they got a constant indirect nerf by upping or the new powerfull toon coming.

For All about this, i would know your feelings.
Do you think some droids need a buff/rework ? A Synergy between 2 droids like Finn and Dameron just got ?

My feeling is they need. And yours ?

TL;DR

Droids are too squishy nowadays, and there are many counters to them, so they're not as good as they used to be.

Interesting. Really.
Even if i can't read and look all the most interesting content here (so the vids), it seems like we should have K2 and Grievous.
K2 impossible to get for iOs. Thanks for this...........
And Grievous... maybe one of the harder toon to get lol. Especially since ships come to us

I am also a player with Droids as his A-Team which served me well during all the game content (and is perfect for AAT Raid too) and i fought for top5 every day during various meta teams. Afterall i can kill Wiggs, Rex etc. but i will fall on defense because most players will target Droids because they are easy if controlled from AI and you can abuse Wiggs/Rex by yourself or simply switch in Raid-Han against JE. So more or less Droids are a One trick Pony that can only unload a nice Burst but are killed once your opponent get TM back (Rex, Anakin, Biggs) and/or can use the new Tanks like Shore/Baze that open with taunt (which not only work great against Wiggs). Since all members are more or less needed you can't switch toons easily.

This was the reason i gave my robots a break at Arena and used my 40k B-Team (Empire) which can beat 48k Rex Teams quite easy and is well prepared to fight against Wiggs.

But thanks to SifuSteve i try to make a comeback for my Droids, currently gear up K-2SO to at least Gear X which allows various new ideas. SifuSteve make a very grindy squad with HK, IG100, K2, B2 and Grievous and it seems it works well enough. I can see that IG100 and Grievous can be switched with other characters like IG88, JE or even non-Droids like Boba or the new Cassian (which transforms K2 into a super Tank). What i mean is, you need to adapt even the good old Droids because nobody can lean back and say "This team is made forever!", heck even Rebels are about to change with all the Rogue One stuff and one day even Wiggs will be "not meta enough" (see Poe, Phasma, Dooku, Old Ben, Rey etc.).

Could you give me the speed of your droids?

I am a droid user myself with exactly the same squad (47(L), 88, 86, JE and B2) and for now, I can hold on to the top 5 in the arena. This is mainly because I gave them all the speed I could find. With General Kenobi on the rise, I won't last long...

Maybe a future droid Zeta can turn the tide for us! :smile:

Yes @SifuSteve show very interesting thing, and i trully agree that we all need to adapt. But sometimes there is condition for adapting ourselves. IE K2... i would love use him but i'm not android player. Grievous, i have him, but with 4 stars. Is it enough to using him ? Believe not.

I would have to go on a Team B too, in empire stand, but don't have Shoretrooper. But i'll try

Yes i really know that. I'm trying to make a little difference with First Order too, with a poll i made (in my signature). I really sad that EA don't balance enough ancient toons. And i know all are concerned, but here i try to complain on droid (i don't know if it's english but it sounds well lol) :) i love them so much ! But i try to make it positivly.

You might want to speed up your HK-47, so that all your droids have 100% turn meter straight after JE uses his turn meter up :smile: You can use this sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-RqMTNkj9If0f1Lr-Umv9BLsKKTRwF6GK4nDklAdDZ0/edit?usp=sharing

With this sheet, you just fill in your current droid speed in column C, which gives you the result in column G. Credits for making this sheet go to @Romec245 ) :smile:

When you let every droid fill their turn meter bar to 100% or more, it becomes random who attacks strait after JE. If you're lucky, it will be B2 who can remove Shoretrooper of Baze his taunt, followed by 47 to apply some negative status effects, then ig 88 aoe, then ig 86 = guaranteed destruction xD But you have to pray to RNGesus for that to happen lol.

TL;DR -> While your JE has 202 speed, each droid needs to have at least 139 speed.
