Too Much Time in the Raid

I'm a mid-game account (almost 9M gp) trying my best to catch up as a f2p.  I really loved the decision not to make changes regarding the successful undersized teams in the Order 66 Raid, and I have been pushing hard to help my guild and improve my personal rewards with some of those options.  My first team was Kelleran and Jocasta, and I just recently finished GMT and Scorch.  I'm hoping to get the JMMW squad done by the end of the year.

As an underdog playing catch up, it's really fun and incredibly gratifying to punch above my weight class with some of these achievements.  What is incredibly unfun is to burn 2-3 hours trying to get a max score I know is possible but is heavily RNG dependent.  GMT/Scorch is pretty reliable with the right mods, but KB/JN is all over the place... I got it in like 10 attempts 2 raids ago, and the raid I'm in right now probably took close to 300 attempts (I stopped counting after 150).

I like having to figure out the strategy and enjoying the cinematics of a new raid, but once I dial it in, I don't want to spend hours just waiting for the RNG to hit.  It's incredibly tedious.  I really liked the news about the forthcoming update regarding saving your highest score in the Coliseum... can we please do something like that for raids?

Another quality of life improvement for the raid would be to change the functionality of the options after completing a raid attempt.  I think "discard and exit" should do what "discard and retry" does now, and "discard and retry" should reboot the attempt with the team you have set... it's really annoying to have to hit battle twice, deselect units you don't want in your run, and confirm that you're sure hundreds of times.

  • They're asking you to relic 5 toons to get a particular score. Yes, with r9 faction bonuses it's possible to underman and still win easily (with Tarkin/Scorch or PKH+2 Pirates) or after relatively few and brief failed attempts (Appo, CX, DCT), but they're telling you to get 5 toons to the same relic and THEN you should be able to max it out. The fact that you might be able to do so while undermanned is not the same as saying this is recommended (or fun).

I agree it's not fun to try repeatedly, but I'm with those who are telling you that the answer isn't a change from CG: it's boosting other toons relic tiers until you have 5 reliable squads.

  • One word. Mods. Yes, success in the raid is largely dependent on how you mod your toons. You need to hit various turn orders, min speeds to go first, maximize certain stats based on raid mechanics like Maz’s squad with health. There is very little RNG involved in the three toon JMMW squad if your mods are dialed in.  Sure it the enemy focuses and kills mace immediately but then you just restart. It’s much better than recent raids where we had much RNG still in later waves.

Seedy explains it very simply: the raid is built for 5-man teams. Not 3-man (like Endor), not 2-man (like none of the raids since the current raid system launched). Full teams. OP, you're bashing your head against the wall with an undermanned team and complaining that it's hard and RNG-reliant instead of just building a better raid team.

Hell, from my perspective, it's good that you're having a hard time with an undermanned squad. I don't want a duo KB/JN team to be just as reliable in the raid as the full team. I put in the relics to save the time. Why can't you?

It took me way too long to realize that your playtime tracking was cumulative lol.  I was like... how in the world did you spend 25 minutes on a single attempt? haha

But yeah, believe me... I would LOVE to build at full teams at R9.  I'm just trying to be as optimal and scrappy as possible because I'm playing catch up.

Yeah, I've strongly considered doing that.  I'm working on the JMMW trio right now.  They're all in relics, but I'm still behind on zetas and their mods are a mess.  I'm considering taking Aayla to R9 after I finish them to help the KB/JN undersized, mostly because she's going to be awesome on a JMMW squad in other game modes.  We'll have to see how it goes, though.  Going to be a tough sell if I can't get around to that until Feb/Mar and we'll probably only have a couple more months with this raid anyway (if we make it that long haha)

I only have two R9s for O66 because Tarkin/Scorch for 3.6mln is a bargain. I'm not planning on building more R9s for this raid, I've already put a ton of resources into raid team, Pirates is the last team I'm building for it. R9 materials will become a lot more accessible with the coming update.

  • Yeah, as someone who has to sit with the RNG for the KB 3 man every raid it is ROUGH stuff. It is nice to have it down with so many other maxed teams as well, but it isn't necessary unless your guild is really pushing. I have Bariss R9 for a TB op, so I use her and the RNG I need is way worse because of that, which is a choice I made that I still don't know if I stand by.

Tarkin/Skorch and JMMW are so good and so quick/consistent that there's almost no reason to build other stuff unless your guild needs it. BB2 as well unless you plan to R9 them. I HATE them at R7. it isn't the worst thing ever but it always takes me at least 3 or 4 attempts, sometimes 5x that if you're in a bad set of seeds.
