Total Shame

It's a total shame that this game has so much depth potential and instead uses the lemming model for the meta.

This game is just mods.

My post didn't complain about the devs once, just stating it's a shame that so much depth potential is in this game yet it's instead Lemmings.

My issue mainly centers around Squad Arena. I just spent the last 2 months gearing up my GR team, full Zeta's, etc. and it's virtually worthless because Malak can last stand the entire team.

    "So run Malak!"

Can't, don't have +160 spd mod sets, so it's auto loss.

With so many characters and abilities, the game is kind of like a MTG (Magic The Gathering) system and could have a ton of counter-play. Instead, it's Lemmings, just do whatever you're told to do (it'll likely be pay-walled).

It's Malak or bust. It makes for completely boring game play. Especially when the only differentiating factor is mods. So you either won the Mod Roulette, or you didn't. That in itself is what determines your success.

Of course, if I said all this to begin w/, you'd have just said TLDR.

To beat Drevan and Malak you actually need a slow Padme, so mods are less of an issue. Try looking up some strategy.

This one is my favorite, but there are several. In 2 months of gearing up GR, you should have invested 5min into research.

C'mon man, I'm trying hard to be nice; even to those who sound snarky but your style is making that tough.

I know of the slow Padme build, I'm at 242; which is pretty slow and the rest of the team is faster than her as required.

I've done quite a bit of research and play testing w/ it thus far and it has a good win-rate against G11 Malak, but after that, it becomes very difficult to get him down w/o losing GK and once GK is gone, it's nearly impossible to win.

I digress, allow me to ask a question back to you, does a game where the only thing that beats a Malak is a better Malak sound like comp diversity to you? Feel like you have a lot of options to succeed? Or do you feel your game play choices are heavily steered?

Spend next 2 months farming Malak...

you can unlock malak just in time for when in 3 months a Malak counter will be released that wrecks Malak teams.

This game has been like this since 2017.

    "So run Malak"

    P.S. I have Malak

The answer to all your problems is farm mods then.

So you agree w/ my original point.

    "The game is just mods."

Just out of curiousity, would you rather have amazing mods but always be behind the meta, or would you rather be on top of the meta but with lesser mods?
If you had to think about that question it kinda proves that this game isn't "just mods".

Thanks for reply, you're right, in a way.

I actually listed two issues, Lemming mentality and mods and then recapped it to, "this game is just mods".
I guess I did that because I figure we can all be lemmings and follow the meta, most top end players do. The only variety at the top is mods, which was where I was coming from.

Touche though, you're technically correct if you ignore the rest of my OP.

No, you're ignoring the fact that you need toons just as much as you need mods. Just because you have the toons doesn't make the game solely about mods. That's like saying you only need water to survive because you already have plenty of food.
As for lemming mentality, the last two metas had 1 team that was simply way better than the other teams. Sure, you could still counter it (eventhough you seem to think malak is unbeatable), but other teams would hold significantly worse on def. Can't really blame it on "lemming mentality".
End of the day mods are important, just like (meta)toons are important. Imo that's a good thing, it gives us the oppertunity to outperform others where toons couldn't anymore due to being capped. There still are options if you're slower, it's going to be harder than with faster mods though. You also have to keep in mind that if you're in the top of your arena leaderboard it's probably due to your mods, so while you may have worse mods than some, it's reasonable to assume you've got better mods than most.
