Upgrading mods...

So I just bought a bottom right speed mod from the store for 3.93 mill and spent 464k upgrading it to level 15.

It was a 5 dot A (gold) so I was assuming that like all the other gold mods I've ever had all the secondary stats would be increased. But no, only two of the stats were and that 5 speed secondary that I was counting on to be upgraded to 10+ stayed exactly where it was.

Is this normal?

I thought that all the secondaries got upgraded on gold mods, 3 for purple, 2 for blue etc etc
  • If you're upgrading a level 1 gold mod with speed, there's a 31.6% chance that the speed won't get upgraded at all. There's only a 0.4% chance that the speed will get all four upgrades for your chance at up to 29 speed on the mod.

Assuming equal probabilities, unless they've specifically stated the odds somewhere.

    Never tell me the odds!

    Sorry I couldn't resist :)

There's absolutely no incentive for them to have weighted probabilities for upgrades. It makes things unnecessarily complicated for absolutely no benefit. I'll go with Occam's razor on this.

It's equally as complicated, but, whatever.

Do yourself a favor and upgrade to level 12 next time, before committing to the full level 15 mod. All of the final values for the secondaries will be revealed at L12, and those last three levels cost twice as much as the first twelve. If you like what you see at L12, then you can finish it up.

I'll definitely be doing this in future

This very much, only ever level to 12 first, and see if you like the bonuses you rolled. Some people swear by not even trying unless it's a blur/purple mod. To each their own.
  • Yup. Blues and purps for the win for me. Never had the luck of the gods for golds ... yet.
