Exactly this. I can understand how they would be useful for people who missed the first run. Meanwhile, for everyone else, they're literally nothing more than wastes of space. They offer absolutely no rewards, so we're stuck with them filling up the events page for two weeks. Like you said, there are other events that don't show up at all or at least are placed at the far right of the page. The Phoenix (or whatever it was) and the pre-Naboo catch-up events are examples of this. If you already had the toons unlocked/finished, they still showed up but were at the very end of the list, not up front. IIRC, pre-JG legendary events disappeared completely once you got the toon at 7*, so it shouldn't be that hard to set marquee events to do the same.
