Vader TIE Advanced Tournament, does it pay off?

Last time I did a vader tournament for the TIE advanced I exhausted all my 40k squad points and only got 15 shards(fairly low innit)

Now,I've farmed around 100k points, but is vader's ship really worth all those points to go ?

I mean it's a great ship to have,I need it ,it pairs well with scimitar and imperial ships

But at this rate at the end of the tournament i'll be at 30 shards...out of 80.

Means I'll probably get him in late autumn...

  • Kinda-sorta. The competition for Vader Blueprints isn't very fierce, so you get a good return on your investment. But folks seem to really like the Jyn Erso tournament, so if you want a shot at her you're going to need to stockpile a lot of ally points.
  • Yes and no ....

His ship is awesome, and a key piece to what is a really good team with auto target lock on basic.

Problem is getting it is borderline impossible and now 5 and 6* ships are taking over with 7 right around the corner.

The tournament is giving a lot of ship credits as well, so it's worth getting as high as you can, but I'm stuck where you are, I'll prob have 30-40 shards after this tournament.

In general tournaments suck unless you cheat, get really lucky and placed in a below average tournament group or are big spender with 5 or more arena ready teams, fully geared and modded.

With one or two decent arena teams and 100k points you will be lucky to get in the 200-500 group, which other then the ship credits is a big waste of time (probably have to do 30-40 battles to get there)

I want this ship bad, but I actually have a life so I'll do my 10 fights and take whatever I get.

    Bleep Tournaments ---
  • In my experience (depending on your level bracket) you're going to want to have 200-300k to meaningfully compete.

And on that note my advice is to wait for something you really know you want.
  • Jyn Eriso tournament doesn't really interest me that much, but vader on the other hand,he'll do really well with my 6* Imperial Tie Fighter,6*First Order Tie Fighter since they are auto attacker and I run mostly with Executrix.

And Empire side reallyreally lacks imperial synergy with those Tie Fighters and I believe Vader's Ship can fix that.

What is putting me off is the first 3 brackets, basically same 15 shards for the Ship, then if you go harder and you don't have any good toons to fight of the meta, you'll just get stuck to 15 shards, even if you're lucky to pass in a superior bracket, the difference is only 5 shards.
  • you need a lot of points (squad ally points) to keep up with other players. And the rewards are not that great anyways. You come for the vader ship, you get dissapointed and you leave with a nice bunch of ship credits

    Good 'nuff

This will be my first tournament. Anyone care to quickly explain before I jump in?

You get sorted into a bracket with other players of your level range. If it's your first ever, then you're probably level 40 or so? So you should be fighting other 40s for the most part. When you set your defense team you're locked and ready to go. Anyone who wants to fight you will fight against that team, so set your best defensive team--that way you aren't handing players points.

You're given a selection of targets that have roughly the same number of points as you do. Refresh to find a good target and fight them. You can use any character any number of times, but using them two or more times will cost you Ally Points, the cost will increase each time you refresh them, so a deep roster will allow you to get more attacks in.

An attack works basically the same as in Arena, except at the end you're given a number of points based on how many of your characters survive and how many of their characters are defeated. Points per battle have a diminishing return, so you'll see the amount go down over time.

At the end of the tournament the players with the most points get the best rewards and it sort of filters on down from there. Make sense?

Zigga! We are on the same shard.. we have a discord chat for shardmates. Hopefully you see this message.

Send them a pm or post in the pvp section. Don't necro a thread for this.
  • Didn't they say that the ally points won't be used to refresh fights in these tournaments anymore?
