If I'm reading this right... A solo sk would get his bonuses? Or paired with anyone as long as it's not 2 of any faction? So subsequent battles he would still have his unique?

I agree, that's probably what it means... But it's worded vaguely enough that says any combination ('of these allies' is what it should say) where the team has no more than one...
