Arena tips?

Wonder if, as a f2p player, I am able to get higher in the rankings. I can stay under 500 easy enough, as long as I'm doing 2+ battles a day, but I've never been under 200. I'm using Nihilus (g8) with Dooku (g10), Palp (g8), Maul (g9), and Savage (g10). Vader just over took Palp today when I geared him to 9, but not sure if he's a better choice or not. I have no a star, and I'm level 84. I have decent Rebels too: Wedge, Biggs, ST Han, Cassian, K2, Leia (all g8), and 6* Lando and 5* g7 Chirrut.

Other decent characters I have at 7* and higher gear:
Kylo g10
Boba, IG-88, Phasma, Royal Guard all g8
Tarkin and Magma at g7, but if my pitiful 7* R2 attempts are any indicator they aren't great lol

Tips on best team combos from above and how to mod them, as well as what teams I should try to face are appreciated. In my arena shard in the 500-200 range there seems to be a lot of Wiggs/Chaze, Phoenix, and some Clones... and variations of those.
  • no, T up won't prevent Kylo from debuffing himself, just prevent other type of debuffs on him. I'd suggest leveling up r2. possibly even for that 5th spot. R2 is just very versatile and helps create a soft tank in zKylo in case your STHan gets dispelled. Kylo was my first zeta and it really helped his survivability and against some teams he can 1v3 to 4 other toons. However, I'll caution that he's not great on defense since the AI prioritizes lash out, which does negligible dmg.

Mainly you should think about what you want the team to accomplish. Is it meant to be heavy hitting (any team with Wiggs)? or defensive (any combination with DN and multiple tanks or soft tanks)? do you mean to direct dmg (CLS, raid han, etc) or lean towards more control (palp is a good example here)? Rex leads are usually considered a counter attacking team that can weather a first round of hits, and popular 'cause the leadership help mitigate the lack of very good speed secondary on mods.
  • As another poster mentioned, mods. It’s tough when you can’t afford to buy 3 refreshes a day, but do not neglect mod farming. Rex lead can reduce the need for speed to a certain degree, but you still need the right mods for the right squad members.

If nothing else with speed other than to determine the order they go in. With the 100% drop rate, none of your sims will be wasted, but you will get a lot of grey mods. Don’t waste credits leveling these unless it’s a 5* speed primary arrow or in some cases a 5* crit damage triangle, or a 5* potency cross.
  • You can hit 200 no problem as a free player, I do it , so that 's good news.

You've got to do all 5 attacks every day. I totally understand looking at your phone when it's close to payout time and thinking, "I'm 315, I have two more attacks, the best I can hope for is to finish ~220, so why bother?" But you have to do those last two attacks, because every day you fall back overnight a little less than the day before (on average) and over time finishing 220 becomes finishing 210, then it becomes finishing 200.

If you notice that you drop a whole lot overnight, consider using Darth Maul as your leader for the final attack of the day unless you see a sea of R2-D2s in the teams you go up against each day. If you have Resistance for Galactic War, it's worth considering just doing the last battle with them--they're not great on defense, but every now and again the AI handles exposes correctly and brutally annihilate a team. Not all the time, but just often enough that attackers might skip over you for easier targets.

Everything else folks have said above is totally correct.
