Captain Rex, Jewel of the Outer Rim

Ok. This is a write up of how CT-7567 Captain Rex is, and not a clone team write up or summary. Understanding this is crucial to understanding what and why I am writing. This post will contain fluff (in large part to amuse me) followed by actual analysis and a TLDR. Please enjoy.

Let me paint you a picture. You stand on the contested ground of *insert random arena background here* and before your brave heroes stands a squad. You see standing foremost and centered, Jean Luc Picard in blue storm trooper armor holding two pea shooters. Behind him stands a red ghost, a girl with a big stick, Jean Valjean, and some sort of a super big that gives you chills. You've brought your strongest and toughest friends, and you realize you're confused as to what is happening. Captain Picard is about to hurt you.

And here is why.
The current meta, in its purest form, is about speed and damage. High speed high damage is the name of the game, with targeted damage used for used to turn fights into 5v4s or 5v3s. This has led to the surge in popularity of assist damage toons and out of turn taunts (The red ghost). This meta is vey unforgiving, with often many people dead or dying by the end of the first round. In summary, it is brutal.
And the choice leader for this has been Qui Gon Jinn, the Jedi speed demon and assist caller himself. He clocks in at a full 160 speed and causes mass casualties at a glance. Because of this, we have seen a resurgence of Christopher Lee, the counter attacking monster that hits your Jedi even harder than he hit hitler. Most (all) of the time he is used to disable the enemy's own QGJ, probably to stop him from using his very particular set of skills. And this is where a new leader can step in.

Captainimus Cloneius Reximus Maximus. He is best friend to red ghosts, girls, and even the man whose position he wants.

What he brings to the table:
When Reximus (henceforth known only as Rex, but not the dinosaur kind, the clone kind) is on defense, he will usually use an ability known as Squad Discipline. This ability dispels everything but Sid Dartheus' heal immunity. This ability should also give him 60 turn meter + 10 per dispelled debuff. It should grant allies half that amount, or 30 turn meter + 5 per debuff. This means that anyone that went before him will go before their doppleganger on the opposing side in the second round of fire. It also means that they will be able to shake it off regarding ability block or stuns from the first turn. This is huge, it is like Phasma and Ackbar had a baby with no hair.
He second thing that Reximus will do is an ability called Subdue. In the hands of the computer, this ability is alright. But to your hands, your amazing, soft, do you moisturize? hands, it is a Psychic attack from Mewtwo himself, a thunderbolt from Zeus, if you will. When you launch this mjolnir of doom at your opponent's red ghost, you can expect a whopping 3538 bonus damage. That's like 4 Barris attacks on top of the special damage! You're looking at 6k consistent damage, usually closer to 7.
And yes, Rex's basic is a consistent turn meter reduction. This is relevant, because turn meter denial is useful for hamstringing your opponent and winning the coin flip war. It means that he is anyone but a wasted assist call, and can be used to lock out or effect turn order (as needed).

Speaking of speed, Rex's leadership ability is so undervalued by players that it hurts. Yes, it grants an amazing 1591 hp to your ghosty(7 Stars required) and even Rey gains 913 hp from this ability.
The main appeal is the deterrent it provides due to the turn meter on crit. Rex hinself gains 15% turn meter whenever anyone on his team is crit, and his friends gain 7.5%. This seems low, until we remember that on the turn meter scale that can be a lot of effective speed.
If, after Rex moves, one person is crit he will gain 15%, and if no one else is crit, he has gain an effective 19 speed between this and his turn again. His allies gain varying effective amounts, Rey for instance can gain 10.7 effective speed per crit.
That's a lot of effective speed, especially if the enemy uses any AOE attacks. And it applies team wide. Consider that no other leader gives a team wide speed boost, the closest thing is OB and that requires evades.
Also consider that the current wisdom regarding RG is that AOE is one of the commonly accepted strategies to kill glass cannons. Not to mention the turn order shenaningans if aoes are used job the early part of the match.
How does this replace Qui Gon Jinn? In the current RG loving meta, QGJ is in a weird place. Often too fast to burst a toon (guaranteed at the least), he commonly has to use his basic attack to prime a toon, waiting for his friends to attack (like velociraptors). And on D, he acts like a lightning magnet, often acting as stunned weight. All because his assist is too much damage too early in a fight. He'd much rather try to strip a ghost and give his friends all offense up, because after hurting Rey the ghost will almost always be calling your team names. Rex loves to unstun Mr Jinn, and can fix ability blocks or dots, further protecting and helping your team. This cannot be overstated, as it prevents tour team from being locked down or ability denied.

So, the TLDR.
QGJ is in a weird place in the speed and RG meta. He often opens suboptimally due to RG and Duke Countdu. He is better (sometimes, at least) at his natural 137 speed. This is due to setting off RG with his friends' attacks.
Rex brings a lot of effective speed through his leadership (roughly 10 speed per crit taken for allies.)
Extra HP can help push people out of oneself range, or even into taking an additional hit.
Rex brings a huge turn meter manipulation (if it gets fixed) with squad discipline. It's even better if anyone is debuffed. It prevents his team from being stun locked or ability blocked, providing dot removal and such.
T-Rex is also a pretty solid ghostbuster with his subdue attack.
His basic is a reliable stall or order effecting ability.
CT-7567, he's the leader who can subdue his way into your heart and give you brotherly love for days. And j believe he is the meta leader we need.
