But that triple cleanse team is so buff-heavy that this leadership would actually combat it, and gaining TM when they get a debuff (the current structure) is kinda irrelevant against a team that doesn't really apply them.

Seem like enough debuffs to make that part of Thrawn's lead relevant vs. triple cleanse. The rest of thrawn's kit also seems geared to combat triple cleanse teams, so I don't really see this as a problem. Just wait and see if Thrawn manages to shift the team balance. It's way too early to tell.

Triple cleanse beats Thrawn comps pretty easily. It's the AI that is busted in the game. There needs to be much more attention to tweaking the AI and not to releasing new characters that don't actually solve anything. I agree with the OP here; Thrawn teams might actually hold on defense even with the broken AI if he granted Empire allies TM from enemy buffs, basically like a team-wide Baze unique. And yes, the TM gain might have to be adjusted not to make this too overpowering.

Basically this comes down to people crying about their team on defense . Honestly no teams should be able to hold. You should have to earn your spot on the ladder daily. Otherwise what's the point

Devs could've made Thrawn anti Chaze/Triple Cleanse with one tweak

Apparently the guys with Chaze / GK / R2 / Ahsoka teams are having some legit problems and looking to make a switch as they are losing vs. these squads.

The Tarkin squad is the 2x CD version with Thrawn + GK ... it's very solid.

The DV versions are SA based and some have Thrawn and some don't - I haven't put Thrawn in my team yet, still using Tarkin. I actually want to say that Tarkin and now Thrawn has leveled the playing field and ... are they now ahead?

I've been running a tankless DV squad for a few weeks now and as I put more speed / mods in them as I go the rank holds better and better (SA now humming at 272). Stayed at 2 overnight yesterday, been hanging top 10 fringe at worst.

Bottom line, I think folks really need to look at the DV / Tarkin leads again - especially if you have some decent mods with speed, the setups can be very punishing.

Dv sass dn is super good. I roll 278 sass. It's pretty easy to beat most anyone and it holds very well. I've tried it with thrawn and tarkin as the +2 and it steamrolls anyone in offense and is not bad on defense at all. Because I've been playing that team for months now, I am trying out thrawn/tarkin lead.

Thrawn lead is super good vs Vader teams. So expect thrawn to be a challenge. I find the +28 speed from tark just not enough for empire. Thrawn is much better than I expected. The core in working on is: Thrawn, tarkin and shore. The plus 2 is still out for decision. I went to bed in 1st, woke up in 3rd today. So we will see. But yes, tarkin and thrawn are amazing.

We have seen multiple supposed counters attempt to dethrone Chaze (Krennic, DT, DN, Thrawn) and ended up either joining them or falling short of the mark. There's a reason why. Chaze is the rotting wood of the entire game.

Nihilus isn't an integral part of the squad like the rest of them (Rex, Chirrut, Baze and GK), and one debuff per character for Nihilus is irrelevant. Baze only sometimes applies speed down. It is not a debuff heavy team and it's not very helpful for a Thrawn team

On offense, you can use tarkin and ep and you will destroy who you battle. For defense, you can go tarkin and gk or gk and sith trooper. When you get thrawn, you can go tarkin and thrawn on offense and you can go shore and thrawn for defense.
