Diversity, META and Mods

Hi,

I'm a fairly new player (December 2016), and since I've been playing the game and reading these forums I've observed that many feel that there is not a lot of squad compilation diversity in arena and elsewhere in the game. It seems that a great many players to gravitate toward the META of the day which is great and probably wise. Additionally, it seems that speed mods are also winning the day. But could there be more possibilities for great team compilations that are not being utilized because they are not modded correctly to play to omega and zeta ability strengths? For example:

Grandmaster Yoda led Jedi team. Could you place an emphasis on tenacity mods? Yoda's leadership zeta ability grants 30% TM for each buff resisted. It seems like this would be a TM machine if you could get team tenacity way up.

Boba Fett led bounty hunter/scoundrel team. Could you place an emphasis on potency mods? Boba's leadership grants max health based upon 50% of team potency percentage. It seems like this team would be incredibly tanky, while giving out plenty of negative effects and lots of critical damage.

Assaj Ventress led Nightsisters team. This could theoretically be the fastest team in the game with Ventress's leadership ability which grants 28 speed to Nightsister allies and cuts down opposing team TM.

There are plenty more, health mods for Resistance and Phoenix teams to make them more resilient, or offense mods for Jedi and First Order teams to enhance basic attacks.

Anyhow, I would like to believe that this game is superbly balanced and every team you choose has a perfect counter team...even CLS. Or maybe I got it all wrong and the META and speed mods are mathematically superior to all other teams and setups...I hope not.
  • Completely agree Remorhaz. This is exactly where I was going with the post. There should be more strategy with mods. This game could be a lot deeper with the application of mods. You should have to make critical choices and sacrifices regarding mods. If you want more speed you may have to give up health, defense or attack strength. And depending on which faction you prefer to use, you might choose different mod sets. I think this would go a long way in promoting many different ways to play the game and ultimately get more factions interacting with each other. Plus, you might be more driven to collect a lot of different characters/factions. Galactic War would be interesting.

    What was modgate? And how did it kill the player base?
  • You don't need any speed when Han shoot your Yoda first. Based on that, you already lost the battle. It's even without saying that CLS will one shot Yoda with his poor HP.
    There's no diversity because of CLS and Han. Han shoot first and stun, CLS ignores taunt, period. You want to rank high, play GK + zBariss or full Empire.
    I beat every CLS with Thrawn lead, and I beat the usual GK, Bariss, DN, Thrawn, R2 with Tarkin lead, DT, Thrawn, GK, DN. That's all the diversity you'll see now in arena.

    When mods first came out they were even more insanely powerful than now. A bunch of people quit and Team Instinct boycotted spending until it was changed, which it quickly was.
