That player remains in div 7 due to adding a lot of resources after the lock in. They probably had about 500K in upgrades waiting, but did not apply them until after lock, but before join. Currently their GP would be div 5.

Also, many alluded to top x characters in roster being matched. I would guess your top x are close to their top x number of characters.

Some players may not like it and it's totally valid, but GAC is not only about tactics. There is a very important strategical aspect, aka resource management. If you feel that you don't have a chance, it means your opponent did better in this aspect of the game.

The only issue I could find in matchmaking would be the impossibility to correct your mistakes as you can't ungear a character. Once you relic'd this Jedi consular, it's a done deal and will bite you in this rear end region until you quit the game.
