I don't get why you're saving energy at all. If you claim free energy over the max, don't you stop regening it? And why only do GW once? If I do it once a day I get 15 shards for a win and 10 if I don't win. Per day. I started a month ago and already 7* Phasma this way, while also getting shards for Luminara on days I won GW.

But I'm only a month in, am I missing something?
