How to spend Crystal
Hello guys, i have a question, so far i have gathered 2678Crystals, shall i spend it on R4-D4 pack for 1299crystals or wait for the bigger pack that costs 5k? What strategy shall i take?

Probably neither. It sounds like you are a new player. Unless you are prepared to take the first 5 units of this era to at least 4* (so three 1299 packs every two weeks) for the Journey character, then you are better off not getting any extra shards until they become farmable, which will be cheaper.
You are better off spending your crystals on energy and node refreshes. There are a lot of beginner guides out there that will probably be helpful to you.
