My Issue with Bad Batch (including Omega) being a top of the META team

So, with the coming of Omega to SWGOH confirmed, and with some content creators confident that Bad Batch will be a GAS/CLS/Sith Empire level team I feel like there's an issue in terms of investment with these characters. Unless Omega becomes a Legendary character (which is doubtful) all of the Bad Batch would be purely farmable. Which is kinda cool, but I wouldn't want that from a top 3-4 team.

Take the other teams at the top of the META:

- GAS takes like 10 high-level characters all by himself (a few of which are legendary/journey guide themselves)

- The best CLS team has 3 (4 if you count Raid Han) journey guide characters that require moderate to high gear on 5 characters each

- Sith Empire's best team requires Malak, which means you have to gear up 10 OR characters quite a bit

If we have a team that is just as good as those 3 with only hard farm characters, it would feel like those other teams are cheapened, thoughts?

Hard work isn’t cheapened by the existence of alternatives. One could choose to farm the BB instead of GAS/CLS/SE. And for the people who have those characters, this is a prime example of the sunk-cost fallacy. Don’t get me wrong. I see where you’re coming from. I just disagree with it.

    This.

Also, some times hype can be a little over the top, and things have not always worked out to the places they are built up to. So while they may reach some height in the meta lineup, they will most likely still not hit the flexibility of the teams you have listed there.

I'll be totally honest with you, I had to look that up lmao

And I can see the point you're making, this is a game about choices, and if you choose any of those teams instead of BB that's on you. And those teams don't become worthless if BB is on the same level as them. I'd even say that if you have all of those teams it wouldn't matter that much. But if you are like 50% done with a GAS farm and you find out that a just as good team as GAS and 501st can be obtained faster and cheaper, you feel like you wasted time and resources. And I know that this should be celebrated as it's something that will inevitably be good for newer players and F2P players, but it still just feels like there's a sort of pattern to farming and obtaining those top-level teams that BB wouldn't follow.

I hope you're right on that, and I know we've seen it plenty of times in the past where a brand new character comes out and reactions to it are strong initially, and then the character finds its place in the META. But with the BB being a very good team already, it's hard to imagine that adding a 5th character to it would make little to no difference. I personally would be fine with them being at the level of Imperial Troopers or Bounty Hunters, where they can contend with and beat those top teams, but objectively those top teams are better.

Strange comparison, GAS is required for many LSTB's, creates one of the best teams, can solo teams, and takes any Jedi team to another level. The only waste of time and resources would be if you went after Bad Batch before GAS.

I can see the point with the LSTB, though in the future BB may also prove to be required/extremely valuable.

But I don’t think it’s a strange comparison really at all, for GAC at least, traditionally you keep GAS with the 501st or split him up for solos. And that’s where this comes into play the most, bc Arena META won’t be changed. And the hype is currently that BB will be on par with GAS 501st, and all those other teams I mentioned above. Sure GAS can go in a god-tier jedi team, but that’s not usually what you want to do in GAC. And if the BB is on the same level as GAS then I wouldn’t call it a waste to go after them first, I just don’t think it’s good for game balance.

I remember once the hype was that the GG rework with the new droids easily destroyed the arena meta. There were even videos of this. But alas, this did not turn out to be true. It was just another bamboozling with CG footage designed to hype something up to be more than it was.

That’s a good point, and if BB is good but not great then all of this is a moot point

And Imperial Troopers can beat GLs, can beat most (if not all) non GL teams, and they are all easily FTP farmable.

And even so, I don't regret getting GAS or DR+Malak before them, as they have been a source of lots of fun for this game, and following this path has allowed me to beat lots of content, even Conquest in hard mode.

The thing is, even the people who have GAS, or the ones who have not yet start farming the non GL meta teams, can now farm the BB and get a new amazing team. It's the same thing with Imperial Troopers after getting Moff Gideon and Dark Trooper. So it's a win-win.

Even for the people mid-farming GAS, I wouldn't regret having a Padme team, a GG droids team or a Separatist (Geos) team running, as they are all good teams for GA, TW and TB (specially DS Geo).
