You can't get emo-Revan without 1st getting Happy Revan.

You can definitely get Darth Revan before Revan...

Ashoka, yoda, Ezra and old Ben do make a pretty good Jedi team so you have that the Zemp team you have sounds good so just run with that if you have R2 you can make a galactic Republic team so you have a lot of possibilities for teams

You have a ton of options. I’d recommend picking a good team you want to work on, and farm/gear that team exclusively until they’re G12/13 and 7*. Some suggestions for teams that are good in your stage:

Jedi (Bastila, Yoda, Ezra, Old Ben, Ahsoka)
Sith (EP plus 4 of: Fallen Bastila, Nihilus, Sion, Vader, Thrawn)
Geonosians (All 5, alpha is the most important to gear/star and should be the lead)
Nightsisters (Talzin, Ventriss, Zombie, Daka, Spirit)

You can also try to go for Rebels, either of the Revans or Galactic Republic, but all of those require hero’s journey/raid characters which take a bit longer to unlock. Clone troopers are excellent as well, but they need Shaak Ti as a lead to really shine and she’s locked behind a challenging ship node that you might not be able to beat for a while (depending on how your ships are). Eventually, though, you will want to start grinding toward the various legendary/journey so that you can have more squads available to play with.

Rebels should be doable as well, I got Biggs and ackbar on 7* anyway for ships, wedge on 5, but gear 8 at least.
Is the CLS event very hard? If I need to farm for eternity just to beat it, it would be faster to go for something else.
Ships wise I run ghost, Biggs, phantom 6*, wedge, silencer 5* plus Vader 4* for targeting. H1 5* flagship, but I have chimera 5* as well.
Going for practicality it seems Jedi are the shortest farm, as I have ahsoka and Yoda already on 6* and Ezra 7* gear 10.

If you are going to keep playing then all evidence points toward DR Malak or Padme or GAS.

If you can, start going after one of the Revans. They are great if you can get them early enough.
