Oh wait, maybe I misunderstood. Did they remove the character shards and the gear is unchanged? If so, forget I said anything.

Although even in that case you could argue that the gear is much more valuable for your shard shop currency and you're better off to not be tempted by shards.

It was both gear and characters before

It's was only rancor loot and shards before, now it's just GG and gear from g6-g11

Characters always go f2p eventually. Even grevious went to fleet. Gear however, will always be needed. The more stores you can get gear, the better.

For level 85 it includes cuffs, guns, carbantis, the new pieces to get from 11 to 12, etc. It’s wonderful.

So 85 is max and it's good?
