Thrawn Lead or Tarkin Unique

Who should get my next zeta? I currently run Deathtrooper, Thrawn, Tarkin lead, GK and DN. My squad is doing great and I don't see any need for some real big changes. I do not have Tarkin's unique zeta'd yet so it could be a good addition to my current squad. I also think Thrawns leadership ability has tons of potential, but I am not sure if I really want to make that jump when it is not necessary. Does anybody who has both prefer one over the other, thoughts? Another option would be just to hoard it. I could really load up being ahead of the curve with empire.

    I play two teams. Both are excellent on defense and offense is pretty much auto battles.

    Thrawn, dt, dn, shore +1 (gk or tarkin).


    I kinda figure Thrawn lead is better but my Tarkin lead is holding so well that I'm hesitant to make the switch. The Thrawn DT DN ShT GK squad on my shard seems to hold slightly worse(despite being a whole lot more polished). Does Tarkin's unique make a noticable difference or does he basically take the same amount of damage and hit for 2k more on his AOE.


    It's closer to 3500 so on a crit more like 6k. I probably notice it more from a defense perspective. He becomes a tank pretty much.

    And on another note, offense down/crit chance down land on both special and physical damage giving Empire double TM gain under thrawn which also means they'd gain double protection. Tarkin intimidation tactics give opposing Empire 80% TM under thrawn lead and under zeta thrawn would give 8% protection on apply and removal.

    Well both. His unique I see as a must. Otherwise his fracture drops too quickly cause he is so fast.


    The zeta on his unique doesn't affect Thrawn's TM. He has the 15% drop in his pre-zeta unique. The zeta just drops the fractured opps tm

    It's 2% for every status effect gained and lost - that's positive and negative. I faced a zeta maul team in GW for example with full empire and everyone came away with full protection. Vs. DV teams, since the DoTs stick, you can cleanse them (lose) and then they come right back (gain) - so if DV puts 3 dots on you, that's 12% protection gain on a cleanse move from Thrawn's lead and... you get 100% TM (50% on the cleanse move, 15% from Thrawns unique, 15% if Shore is taunting, and 60% TM from gaining back the 3 DoTs as part of Thrawn's lead) ... so essentially you gain free protection, get to burn a cooldown, and still take a turn. Vs debuffs his lead is the most ridiculous thing in the game - puts anything Chaze or GK or R2 can do to shame. However...vs. non-debuff teams it's not all that amazing. DV or Tarkin are better from my trials vs. non-debuff squads.

    Can i ask the turn order/speed on this? I will have dt to g10 shortly and was tossing up between tarkin(l), thrawn, dt, dn and shore and your lineup.

    Also tarkin working well enough here or do you swap him out for gk in certain battles?

    I think this is mainly useful for raids, as it is typically the raid bosses that gain TM while they are fractured. Since speed is set to 0, opponents do not gain TM while fractured, unless it is a TM gain like you get from Thrawn's lead. The +50% counter chance and +50% tenacity are nice, but johnnysteelalphas explanation of how the 2% protection works seems to outweigh the +50%s. Both sounds useful in arena, but the lead zeta seems more beneficial.

    I beg to differ. Don't forget that Tarkin's leader Zeta also adds Expose for 2 turns when dropping opponents below 100% health. I've been running Tarkin lead for a month or more, since before I got Thrawn, and his speed up on my Empire toons has been excellent, especially with fast Death Trooper using AOE first thing to reduce most toons' cooldowns by 1 before they can move. Adding Thrawn (with his Unique Zeta really only useful for Raids) has kept me from dropping much at all overnight on a very competitive shard. The only Zeta I don't have yet from the ones discussed here is Tarkin's unique, and I haven't missed it yet (just 5 Zeta mats to go...)

    thrawn lead... run it with GK or chaze for buffs
