Not possible to find ship shards without activation

Product: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes
Platform:Android Tablet
What type of device are you experiencing the issue with? Tablet
OS Version Android 7
Ally Code: (Find it here: http://bit.ly/AllyCode ) 758735237
What type of issue do you have? Gameplay
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Summarize your bug Find/activate buttons are inconsistent between toons and ships. As a result, there is no way to 'find' shard locations for ships without (accidentally / unintentionally) activating a locked ship that has enough shards and crew to do so.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Intended behaviour (toons): 1. Open a LOCKED toon that has enough shards (e.g. 100/80) from inventory. 2. Click 'ACTIVATE 100'. 3. The 'Activate this Unit?' dialog allows to FIND shards instead of activating the unit. Unexpected behaviour (ships): 1. Open a LOCKED ship that has enough shards (e.g. 100/80) and crew from ship inventory. 2. Click 'ACTIVATE'. 3. The ship will be immediately activated without a dialog. It is not possible to FIND ship shard locations without unlocking a ship.

This is especially painful if you do not intend to use that ship soon. Because even if the ship is kept at low stars, leveling/gearing the crew toons (for other purposes as fleet) adds huge amounts of fleet GP for nothing.

I unintentionally activated Bistan's U-wing some time ago because of this (wasn't sure if I did sth wrong so I didn't file a bug back then). Now it happened to me again with Ahsoka Tano's Jedi Starfighter trying to find shard locations without activating. This time I paid attention so I'm 100% sure I didn't click on a wrong button.

Please fix this button for ships and return my Bistan and Ahsoka ships to their respective LOCKED state as I did not intend to activate them.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Thank you.

Example for toons (IPD):

Result when clicking on 'ACTIVATE 100':

Example for ships (RMF):

Cannot add another screenshot. If I clicked 'activate' there would be NO confirmation dialog with the option to find shard locations.

So trying to use the FIND function like with toons would in this case bloat my GP by ~30k (and counting since I am currently gearing up resistance).

  • Hi @FourInstances and thank you for the detailed report.

This is actually working as designed and not a bug. If you would like to have the "Find" functionality implemented the same way as it works for characters, feel free to post it in the feedback section in the official forum (found HERE) to gain more attention and support.

Hi @EA_HighCommand thanks for your answer.

That's interesting. In programming there is something called POLA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_least_astonishment). In this case the same button works differently depending on where you click it, leading to irreversible behaviour in one of two occasions. A user cannot reasonably expect this behaviour.

Thus, even if it is WAD (I've no reason to argue that), for me this clearly constitutes a design flaw (= defect  = bug). Hence my bug report. I'd really appreciate if you could revaluate the report one more time.

However the outcome, thanks and regards, FI
