I can't play The Sims Legacy

I just bought it on EA, the game downloaded and when I tried to launch it nothing happens. I get a pop up that says "Launching game..." and when it disappears nothing is happening. Can someone help me with that please?

  • Diegog546​  Your new dxdiag still lists the old driver, so it didn't install properly, or it somehow rolled back to the previous version.  Please try again, and after you restart your computer, check the driver version.  Click Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, expand Display Adapters, right-click the Intel entry, select Properties, then Driver, and you'll see a version and a date.  The new version should be 32.0.101.7088, and the date June 22 or close to it.

    Your dxdiag also has some DirectX 9 errors listed, but Sims 1 doesn't use DX9.  Still, they're coming from somewhere, so it's a good idea to reinstall DX9.  You don't need to uninstall it; just run the installer and restart your computer.  More details are here:

  • Diegog546​  Please update the driver for your laptop's graphics chip.  Your current driver is from 2022, and the Sims errors in your dxdiag could be caused by a bad driver.  Asus doesn't offer a newer driver for your model, but Intel does:

    Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart the laptop after installing the driver and before trying to play.

    If you get an error when trying to install the driver, use this workaround:

    This driver IS compatible, since Intel wrote it and certifies it for your Intel processor and graphics chip, but sometimes a laptop's internal software blocks drivers not provided by the manufacturer.

  • Kondziu2000​  Please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
