The Sims 1 Legacy Blinking, Unplayable

Hi everyone,

I need help! I just paid 10€ to play one of my childhood games with my kid, and it turned out to be unbearably blinking on and off. Not only is it unplayable but it gives an instant headache and could be dangerous for people suffering from epileptic seizures... What is happening? If I can't fix it, how do I get my 10€ back?

I am trying to play on an HP laptop from 2020 using Windows 11.
