I am also having this issue. I made a family with 2 adult sims, an adult cat and an adult dog. The family was created and I saw all 4 of them when I was selecting a house to move into. When I clicked the house and moved them in, the game loaded the house without the dog. I went back to the neighborhood (Desiderata Valley) and still only saw the sims and the cat. No trace of the dog. I quit the game entirely and relaunched it. When selecting the house and going into it, I could see the cat on the loading screen. Once loaded, the sim was paused trying to pickup the cat, but there was no cat in her hands. When I hit play the sim reset itself. The cat is totally gone now from the loading screen and there is no trace of it in the sim's memories.
I don't use OneDrive and I excluded the EA games folder and all subfolders in my antivirus.
