If you want to see needs dramatically decreasing, play Sims 1. That game is all about keeping needs high. Luckily, Sims don't die of old age so it doesn't matter that they take a billion years to get promoted...
Oh man I don't think I've played Sims 1 since I was in year 1 lol. I remember trying to create houses and making them preposterously large so it would take hours for them to cross one room. I had a thing where they had to own everything that they possibly could. As a child, my parents adopted a genuinely huge amount of cats and at one point we had at least 11, but we were never allowed that many in my sims house so I had to pick my favourites :P
