Sims 2 legacy - suddenly crashing no error message

I have been playing my legagcy game without issue since october. Then suddenly yesterday, it randomly crashed with no error message. Yesterday, it was during game play. Today, it is whenever i try to...

Hi  5f2d0dcbf7b4eb9d​,  Carmen_Skye​ and  SimxShady​,

try deleting the cache files. The Sims are located in Documents in the “The Sims 2 Legacy” folder, where you will find “groups.cache” and “Accessory.cache.”

Otherwise, try repairing your game with the EA app and reinstalling it if necessary.

that was the first thing i did. it had no effect
